62 year old who strangled a rabid bobcat. When he reached the back porch of his home in the Villages of Wesley Chapel, FL about 7 a.m. May 30, he found a grumbling 25-pound bobcat on his doorstep as he took out the trash. The bobcat lunged toward him, biting Rippy in the abdomen. Then the animal wrapped its body around Rippy's, sliding its sharp nails across Rippy's arms and legs, leaving bloody scratches. Rippy grabbed the animal by the neck. The bobcat struggled to free itself, but Rippy was determined not to let go. He choked the bobcat for about a minute until it died.

Roger Baxter
Aurora CO man was shot in the chest after interrupting a burglary. Baxter, a C-DOT (Colorado Department of Transportation) employee who lost his legs after a semi going 70 mph hit him on I-70 last October. He was in a coma for a little under a month, went through 13 operations and lost his legs. He has spent the past seven months learning to live with a wheelchair and crutches. He came home to find a man in his home, hit him with his crutch and yelled at him to get out of his house. Instead of leaving, Baxter says the man tried to kill him. "I thought he was probably dead after I heard the shot," said his wife, Deb Baxter. The bullet hit Baxter's cell phone, shattered it, hit his money clip, then him in the upper torso before lodging itself in the sofa.

The event took place at The Studio Bar, a new live music venue in Penzance, Cornwall. The previous record of 264 hours (11 days) was set by 17 year old Randy Gardner in 1964 as part of a student science project.
